I dated a woman with schizophrenia. She was nice, sweet, pretty and I think she genuinely liked me. She had a few delusions that I regrettably thought were funny, she would bring them up every now and then but other then that she looked, acted and sounded normal. I only went out with her four months and she lived about 15 miles away and we used to take turns taking the bus to visit each other. This might be encouraging for men reading this: I didn’t have a job at the time and I was living in a group home at the time. She actually started the relationship with me, she had been living at the same group home and then moved back in with her parents but before she went she made sure we were going to visit each other. I visited her at her parents home and met her parents and I stayed the night once. Yeah, I liked her, we went on dates and hung out.

I dated another woman who had some kind of mental illness, I don’t think she was schizophrenic though. She was really pretty and way out of my league, I don’t know why she even went out with me.

If she took care of herself and took her meds I’d definitely date a woman with sz. Love is love, right? Idk about children though.

I don’t care dating a schizophrenic woman if she’s a bit stable either by taking meds or plants

It would be painful if she was struggling though

I would date someone with schizophrenia so as long they were somewhat stable, but I think having children and passing down bad genes would be too big a risk. And kinda irresponsible too towards would be offspring.

I dated someone once who I met in the night life. Everything seemed ok at first, then we went home to her place. Actually I think it was her idea.

Anyways when we got to her place we talked a bit. Then she went into the bathroom, and when she came back she had slashed her wrists, not like suicidal, but self harm slashing. And said something like..now we can have sex.

It was a pretty upsetting experience. I went and got bandaids and helped stop the bleeding. Made sure she was OK.. her roommate would come later. Then I left.

So the answer to the question is, only if it’s someone relatively stable.

She texted me and apologised the next day, but that was the end of it.

I dated a schizophrenic guy for 1 day and then it was over because we both felt stressed. He is a lovely man but somehow, the fact that we both had schizophrenia did not work out in this case, alongside the mental and physical comorbidities. Nevertheless he is a gem of a man.
