At A&E with my son today

He is wracked with anxiety. And refusing to eat and drink for more than 48 hours. His blood sugar was very low. They got it up with glucose in a syringe which I had to pin him down for. And said nothing else they can do. If he continues to not eat bring him back and rinse wash and repeat.

So I suspect we will be there again tomorrow as he still isn’t eating. All anxiety

Children’s mental health team refuse to see him because he is only 5

I’m worried I’m going to loose my son. It’s been an awful week.

Ty just got off the phone with the GP. She is writing a referral now to a private pediatric psychiatrist. I will know more tomorrow where he will be seen but I will have to pay out of pocket. It’s either I do that or he dies from not eating and drinking.

Have a feeling it will be back to A&E tomorrow in the meantime.

I’ve fasted for 3 days without food before but I dont think I’ve gone more than 48 without water. I did this all when I had some unusual beliefs. I think rainstorm might be on the right track there. Hydration might be key after so many days.

Probably not healthy to go that long without food either but water is very hard. That is if they have not already given an IV. I’m sure he is quite parched if he hasnt had in 48 hours.

PS: Not a doctor either but I have fasted before.

Maybe try him with some chopped up fruit because that has water in it. I knew a kid who only ate weetabix refused anything else , but he was ok. I hope you keep getting your son help, keep taking him to hospital because not drinking in this heatwave is dangerous. How is he now?

I hope you can get your son help. It sounds serious.

Oh man, that’s scary. I remember my daughter being extremely ill and refusing her meds when she was a toddler to 8 years old. I worried about losing her too. It was torture going through that along with all her screaming and crying from pain. I’m so glad she’s doing much better now at 26 years old. Hang in there! Keep seeking help and you’ll be ok.
