Clozapine and Tardive Dyskinesia

Evening everyone.
I have sz and TD. I feel almost like at one time another I’ve taken 75% of all the existing antipsychotics out there. I think I’m mostly holding steady right now with AP Rexulti and AP SEROQUEL. Plus others including for TD.

I was interested in getting anyone’s take on TD and clozapine. I guess if like more anecdotal evidence of how it is to take clozapine.

Thank you

I’m on clozapine…I’ve literally been on everything, including Cobenfy…I’ve never had TD on any meds although Geodon gave me horrible akathisia. The only thing I really dislike about clozapine is the food cravings…i put on 50 lbs over a year. There’s also constipation but it can be easily treated.

I’ve been on more than 10 aps.

I now take clozapine, chlorpromazine and haloperidol.

I jerk my head very often. But I’m not sure if it’s td

@WhiteRaven does it work well for you? Any signs of TD? Are the cravings worse than with ZYPREXA if you’ve taken that before.

There is research that said Clozapine can a bit reverse TD from use.Reason is that Clozapine don’t have affinity for D2 (dopamine receptors)…

I’m on it for 26 years ..

Yes that’s what I been told as well. That Clozapine rarely gives or worsens TD and in some cases even can reverse TD.

Yeah, the clozapine works well with no signs of TD. The food cravings are about equal to Zyprexa.

Thanks that is all support helpful. My current psychiatrist refused to consider clozapine and I let it go. I’ll keep this info in mind

I can’t take clozapine. It kept making me go unconscious. Just be careful out there. Hugs
