I lowered my Qutiapine with 100 mg 6 weeks ago to 200 mg Qutiapine X 2 and the last 2 weeks I got more and more depressed and started just sleeping 4.5 hours each night and I found no pleasure in anything. I’ve spend some time on the antipsychiatry forums on the web and I’ve witdrawn from much medication. I percived withdrawal as being the brain ajusting to the new dose and not the condition coming back. I now realize that this was not just adjustment to the new meds dosing. I got suicidal depression today so I upped the dose of Seroquel to 500 mg today and found my personally pain bottom of how low I could go.
I hope you’ll feel better soon
Don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor about that
Meds are important to us and lowering dose isnt a good idea unless doc thinks so. Best speak to pdoc asap tell them about your low mood. Feel better soon
Hang in there keep takin those meds we all know how we are off meds
I’m going to inform my doc Monday. I’m going to have my injection for psychosis in 4 days. Now I realize how important the Seroquel is for regulating my mood. Yes I must realize that it was the condition coming back. I’m no longer using antipsychiatry and will advise everyone to take their meds no matter what.
Yes and lowering meds can be an absolute disaster for some of us. It might work for somebody in remission but definitely not for most schizophrenics.
I really don’t feel the psychosis anymore because of my injection. But if I don’t take enough Seroquel my mood becomes a roller coaster. The negative symptoms will stay with me.
How is your mood now? It might take a few days to feel better? But speaking to your mh team is best. And just want to add that were on good meds and they cost a lot of money, we should trust the medical teams they know what there doing and wouldnt recommend this treatment unless it was in our best interest
You know my mood is slightly improving now and so is my sleep. I slept for 6 hours last night.
Hey @Relaxe am going to tell my family doctor I can’t handle my seroquel reduction
If you’re concerned about negative symptoms, then adding an antidepressant can help with those.
Mirtazapine has been found to be very effective for negative symptoms (although it comes with weight gain).
And as far as I know, venlafaxine, duloxetine and vortioxetine are also effective for negative symptoms - without causing much weight gain, and vortioxetine can also help with cognitive symptoms.
There are other ways of improving negative symptoms - like regular exercise, but if you’re looking for a pharmacological solution, then adding one of those antidepressants can help.
Best of luck
You know Jimbob I have cursed some of the side effects of the Seroquel. But it’s a fairly good meds. I’m glad that I’m back on those. Better sleep and brighter mood makes it worth taking those.
In your case I’ll say 200 mg of Seroquel is a tiny dose with very few problematic side effects. I think that it’s quite reasonable for you to take your tiny dose of Seroquel if those offer good sleep and freedom from anxiety.
Yep I think I value the treated anxiety and good sleep.
If I had no weight gain I would have absolutely no hatred toward seroquel.
I will need to lose weight another way
I’ve got the weight problem as well. But it’s not worth it becoming skinny and miserable ![]()
Hang in there, perhaps you could try some of those partial agonist drugs or some supplements. But still, antidepressant might be in order nevertheless.
