Do psychiatrists look through these mental illness message boards?

I just stubbled upon the psychiatry message board on Reddit and there are actual psychiatrists discussing their cases. This has now made me paranoid that my psychiatrists is reading my posts on this forum and the old one.

I think they have a family life idk why they would take time out of there time off just to spy on patients

With that being said for awhile I had the same paranoia

its possible. If you are worried about it you can also post in private members. It seems unlikely psychiatrists would spend a lot of their spare time browsing here but I cant say for sure when its a public forum. Private members is not viewable by the general public and members below trust level 2.

I have nothing to hide even if they did which I highly doubt if there are pdocs on here lurking it wouldn’t be mine so I don’t care.

We write generic stuff here.

The information is of no use to a psychiatrist. It’s also a breach of privacy and trust. So I’m sure they wouldn’t browse this site or the previous forum.

I don’t think the psychiatrists would spend time reading our posts because they are busy working during the day and would be with their families after work. Also from my experience with psychiatrists in Australia most of them were too proud to care about what the petients said about their illness and life. They just didn’t care.

I think as we all know here in the UK… these people are spread very thin over a large area. They wont have time to browse and seek out individual patients online.

I doubt they have time or energy to lurk forums with pseudonymous avatars engaging in mental health chit-chat. Besides they expect to get payed, in my experience psy-docs do the bare minimum as it is - why would they bother to go above and beyond the call of duty, beats me.
