Free groceries through my health plan

They call it medically tailored food, you only get it if you have a health condition like diabetes or a bad heart or something and they give you food tailored specifically for your health condition. I have diabetes so I’ll get a bag of free groceries once a week for the next 12 weeks, I got my first bag last Thursday and it had milk, ground beef, salmon and kale and some other stuff. This is the best medical plan I’ve ever been on. I think Medicare or Medicaid does this too, you might want to check into it.

I don’t qualify for free food but I do qualify for a card that I can use towards OTC items at certain pharmacies, and glasses

That’s awesome. Is it not related to SNAP?

Mine is part of a Medicare Advantage Plan as opposed to snap, but it doesn’t cover food so I’m not sure

No, they’re separate.

Good to see you around 77nick77.
My dad had a similar meal plan going on. I usually go to a local food bank twice a month. My SNAP benefits have been cut back drastically. I used to receive 5 times as much as I do now. Thankfully, living with my sister and mother has been a bit easier. He had diabetes as well.

It is good to know there are such services. I too have Medicare and Medicaid though I do not have diabetes. I would like to know a little more because I know physical health affects mental health and good nutrition is good health.

As for SNAP, I at one point received 357 dollars. Now i receive a 37 dollars was quite shitty to have less help with the groceries. I think it was because before I was renting an apartment with my dad and now even though I still pay rent because it is not my house, I live in a household, well that and budget cuts but no politics! Do not want to get banned hah.

My dad received heart healthy meals. During the COVID quarantine he even received prepared meals. They were really high quality too like almost chef stuff.

I’m pretty sure that these deals on groceries happen with Medicaid only.

I have Medicare and don’t get discounts on groceries @77nick77
