It definitely changed mine. I still make friends, just not as many as I did before the illness. Some conversations are honestly boring to me, and I don’t always enjoy very close communication. Basically… sometimes I don’t even notice what has changed in me, but my circle of friends is definitely much smaller.
I am not very creative with my speech. When I talk to my mom she is the one leading the way for the conversation. We often talk about the same things day in day out. I have poverty of speech I think! ![]()
Actually,I like how schizophrenia changed my social life…
I know it looks strange,but I’m not impulsive as I was …
Also,I got quit with all friends, and some family. It came with some price, but I care more for my privacy and wellbeing .. Also pray when I can.
It comes with years of internal pain, but at least no one "close to me"hurting me .
i think i have some ptsd from my episodes which makes me want to go out less, so overall im less social because of sz lol
Same for me…I think the sz and bullying at work definitely changed me. Ptsd and rejection sensitivity …
I was far more social before sz even tho I was still a little less social than normals.
Yeah i think it has changed me but at the same time I feel like it might be the impact ot trauma from psychosis that has caused me to be in my own head most often of times.
I can think much easier than I can speak. When I go to say what I’m thinking I get all tongue tied and forget what my thoughts were. But I think it’s from my antipsychotics I’m on. I need them and will always take them but they make communicating verbally more difficult
Before sz I was like: “how are you sir..nice weather we have today, wouldn’t you say?” ![]()
Now I’m like: “what up homes? You better chill bro!..winter coming, ya know.” ![]()
I am very self conscious.
So, I second guess everything I wanna say.
But I may have always been like that.
i suffer from social withdrawl and alogia
Pretty substantial negatives so I talk and even communicate pretty minimally if compared to the mythical normies.
My friendship groups were always small
Not had one for over a decade now
I am content with it now
Honestly I’d struggle to share my life with a group again
