This has been an ongoing issue for the last couple of months someone who lives in the apartment complex right next to mine has been making harassing comments or inappropriate gesture just whenever he sees me walk by.
It all started a couple of months ago when he walked by and he called out “hey, are you single?” It made me uncomfortable so I said “no sorry I’m married”. But he didn’t stop there next time I saw him he commented on how big my breasts were and this is been an ongoing thing ever since.
Today I was walking by him, and he made a really inappropriate gesture with his tongue and fingers then made milking emotions on his chest.
He makes me really uncomfortable, but I don’t know how to address it because it’s not like he’s doing something illegal. I don’t even know which number his apartment is so I can’t even go to the office about it. How would you handle this?
He walks the same routes I do around the neighborhood. If I see him and his dog walking by me I always cross the street when possible. I don’t want to engage with him more than I have to. I don’t know maybe I’ll sneakly follow him when he heads home to see what apartment he lives in
Probably not usually prosecuted because there’s no proof. But I’m sure if someone catches multiple interactions like this on camera and clearly tells them to leave them alonethey can at the very least get a restraining order.
That is just awful. You should report him. That is horrible behaviour and totally unacceptable.
Once I was waiting a bus near my home, minding my own business. A group of young men came to talk to me. One of them asked me did my father rape me as a child because I had so many self harm scars. I still remember that comment, it was so rude and horrible. I just froze down and couldn’t speak. I could never think why would anybody say something like that to a total stranger.
Could you ask somebody who handles the apartments in your area, if they knew who he is? Describe how he looks like. I would be scared out of my mind If this would happen to me.
IDK, he’s kind of sexually harassing you by making obscene gestures and commenting on your appearance. IDK if you have a legal case against him but here in California we have lawyers who give free legal advice to low income people. Maybe you have that there.
Maybe talk to his apartment manager about this? Tell them a tenant of theirs is harassing you and describe him and maybe they know who he is. He may have even done this to other people in the past and they are familiar with him. Maybe call the police and ask them if what he’s doing amounts to sexual harassment and can they do anything about it? Do you have any friends or family who can confront him and maybe scare him so he stops doing this?
