Thanks!

Sorry to hear you got turned down. In the USA they just recently implemented what’s called the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge which allows for coverage if your BMI is high and you are pre diabetic, as long as you have Medicare part D and your doc makes a good case for you.

My main concern was becoming diabetic due to Zyprexa induced weight gain. This will help reduce my appetite without lowering Zyprexa, which is good because last time I tried lowering my Zyprexa I experienced insults from voices and delusional thinking. Gotta keep the Zyprexa.

If i lose enough weight my pre diabetes status should go away.

Hope it helps you. Be good to hear how it has gone once you’ve been on it a while

I’m taking my before pics tonight and will keep taking pics each week for a year to record my progress.

I’ve been jealous of @77nick77 because i think he’s doing very well on glp 1 from what i remember reading here.

Yeah, Mounjaro helped me a lot. Good luck with your weight loss. When you’re on these drugs it doesn’t mean you can eat what you want. For them to work good you need to eat a good diet and eat reasonable size portions and exercise. If you eat big portions of junk and fast food the drug won’t work good.

Thanks, i’m prepared to eat a good diet and keep up my exercise routine. I know I post big meals in the foodie thread but these are splurges. Most days I eat light. I try to keep my portions small.

Anything to suppress my appetite will go a very long way I’m sure. When I was off Zyprexa i lost weight fast because i just didn’t feel like eating anymore once i had eaten a small amount. I’m hoping Wegovy can do this for me without my having to lower my Zyprexa.

Will they stop covering it when your bmi gets below a certain number?

From what I understand all that it matters is what it started at. Also when the Bridge program ends in Dec 2027 they are replacing it with something called the Balance model. It’s supposed to also offer coverage.

Here’s some info i found, I’m doing more research on it

* The program calculates BMI based on when you first started using a GLP-1 medication for weight-loss management, not when the Bridge Program begins. For example, if you started GLP-1 therapy in 2025 with a body mass index (BMI) of 37, but your BMI drops to 34 by the time your doctor submits a prior authorization request in July 2026, your provider should confirm that you met the BMI 35 or higher requirement when treatment began.

After the Bridge program ends in December 2027, CMS will replace it with the BALANCE Model. The Balance Model will be slightly different than the Bridge Program, but will still provide access to GLP-1 for weight loss.

The BALANCE Model (Better Approaches to Lifestyle and Nutrition for Comprehensive hEalth) is a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiative that CMS originally planned to launch in 2026. The program aims to expand access to GLP-1 medications and healthy lifestyle interventions for people enrolled in Medicare. However, CMS delayed the program after fewer Part D carriers participated than expected. The Bridge Program is a temporary solution until BALANCE Model starts.

@Agent101g good luck with it! Congrats. I just stayed Mounjaro. Bc I found out I had diabetes the same exact day the bridge program started

YAY!!! I’m waiting to resume my Zepbound through the Medicare bridge program. Medicaid took it away in January. Can’t wait to get my GLP1 back.

You’re gonna see results. Like @77nick77 said, the degree of results depends on life style changes. I cut out sweets in tandem with Zepbound and lost over 80 pounds last year.

It really lowers hunger. One thing is that you might encounter nausea, but that gets more manageable.

So happy for you!

Oh I’m very happy on all of your others behalf that you got approved to the Novo Nordic and Elly Lilly weight loss diabetic drugs. It really helps most people loosing 20 - 40 pounds. If you become bigger because you eat more than you burn calories you really should be granted a GLP drug no matter if you are poor and uninsured or not. If the cause of your weight gain is antipsychotics you are very compliant to just let the rich MAG people pay.

I had a talk with my doctor on the subject and he said that I just should eat my 1200 kcal salat diet because the weight loss drugs just won’t work on my weight because that it’s the 800 mg Seroquel that slow down my metabolism and not over eating.

@Relaxe

I don’t know. I have always taken APs and when I was on wegovy for a few months about 17 months ago it really freakin worked. Now I have been back on it just over the last two weeks and we will see. But theta no reason you couldn’t get help from it. I don’t see what harm there is in trying.

are you on the pill form of wegovy or the injections? Thinking on going on it if approved by my dr and insurance I have CareSource, so I don’t know if its covered or not I hope it is I need to do something to control and curb my through the roof appetite I have been having and to lose weight of course.

I’m on the weekly injections. My doctor doesn’t want me to use the pill because she said it’s very important to take it apart from other medicines and with exactly the right amount of water, and I’m already taking synthroid for my thyroid apart from all other meds in the morning which would make things complicated. She said the weekly injections are much easier to ensure you’re getting the right amount when you take it.

The injections are spring loaded and auto-injecting though, and they are almost 100% painless. I barely felt it when I used it. I was worried about having to stick myself with a classic style syringe and having to push the plunger with my thumb, but you don’t actually have to do that. Just take the cap off the pen, press the circular end of it into your thigh, hear a click, and hold it there for ten seconds.

So far it’s knocked out all my overreating already. It turns off what they call “food noise” which is just random cravings of food throughout the day. No more snacking, no more endless ice cream sessions, nothing like that. And when I do tackle a meal I get full fast and usually don’t eat the whole thing. So I’m told it’s important to eat a nutritious diet with lots of protein in the portions I DO consume.

I still had food noises on 5mg mounjaro and neuropathy, now I switched up to 7.5 mg and a lot of the food noises are gone but neuropathy got worse, planning to switch to 10mg soon

Rybelsus didn’t do much for me

I saw you can only get on this program if you have a BMI of above 35. Mine is like 34 :frowning:

It’s different BMIs depending on what you have in additional issues:

• You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 or higher

• Your BMI is 30 or higher, and you have certain types of heart failure OR high blood pressure that’s hard to control OR chronic kidney disease (stage 3a or above)

• Your BMI is 27 or higher, and you have prediabetes OR you’ve had a heart attack, stroke or blocked arteries in your legs or arms

I have Prediabetes and a BMI of I think 31.
