I’m having trouble with binge eating

I’m having trouble with binge eating does anybody have any suggestions about how I can change this? I know that I like Diet Coke maybe if I drink more Diet Coke maybe it’ll slow my eating down. What about drinking iced tea?

Unsweetened tea is good

Flavored seltzer is good. It’s just water that tastes like soda. Sometimes you might feel hungry but you’re actually dehydrated.

Maybe snack on some fruit or celery with ranch. Carrots with ranch good too :carrot:

Are you on clozapine? That’s what I’m on and my appetite is awful.

I am on Abilify10mg and Lexapro20 Abilify has to be the one making me hungry all the time plus I am going through perimenopause and that too will make you hungrier than usual but my meds keep my mood stable has for a long time but it sucks to be hungry all the time while on it I believe the abilify is the culprit

I am the same age as you and my period so far has stopped haven’t also had a period since Oct of 2025, but it could start back up but I highly doubt it I am at that age where I enter Menopause but haven’t had the hot flashes thank goodness for that but do get night sweats occasionally and weight gain well it fluctuates like crazy up and down that’s just as bad as actual weight gain.

I would drink ice tea. Diet Coke is deadly. I used to drink about 2 liters a day. If I just have a can of it now, I’m in pain.

its likely because of antipsychotic intake that make you hungary all the time and have food craving.try metfrormin its good for suppressing apettite and weight loss.also glp1 agonist injections lower food intake.

Aspartame (the sweetener in Diet Coke) was originally used to increase hunger in people suffering from anorexia to help them eat and gain weight.

In other words, drinking more diet pop is a bad idea because it’ll increase your hunger and cravings. Sorry!

but diet coke tastes so good I have been trying to drink more water here lately but still come short and could drink more I tried once to quit drinking diet pop, but it only lasted like two weeks before I started drinking it again I been drinking like three a day now was maybe two then water the rest of the day its hard to not drink diet pop but do agree that diet pop makes you hungry everything makes me hungry just looking at food makes me want it.

I totally understand. I’ve cut way back on my diet pop habit. I’m caffeine free so I like root beer zero sugar, and vernor’s zero sugar.

Do you have the ability to see a dietician @Loke? I don’t know what country you’re in but the US if you have Medicaid it covers seeing a dietitian and if you have commercial insurance many plans cover up to 10 visits a year. I have found working with a dietitian who specializes working with eating disorders(yes binge eating can be considered an eating disorder) very helpful.

Yeah. I’m in West Virginia US. I’ll google dietitian in my area

Depending on if you have commercial insurance or Medicaid, the company called Nourish is really great. I see my dietician via telehealth through Nourish, my Aetna insurance covers it.

It maybe unstable bloodsugar, like up and down too much, too quickly. Because the cells aren’t energised even when blood sugar is high if insulin isn’t doing its work
