I generally don’t do well with books anymore either. I can force it when I have to but I dont usually enjoy it much.

Its a huge struggle because I’ve probably read less than 15 books my whole life.

That’s the spirit! Unfortunately cannot really enjoy books all that much anymore, bit jealous to those who still can enjoy this hobby. :open_book: :eye: :brain:

I get you

I have the same issue,I would like to read but don’t have motivation

It’s annoying because I read for a bookclub so I only have until the end of the month to read

I’ve also stopped reading much, last year i did a lot of audiobooks though, might be an option.

Maybe you need detox dont scroll or watch youtube fast stimulation . Your dopamine levels adjust in week . Delete all garbage apps

I want to try some books on tape bc reading is hard for me too

I wonder why its almost universal for people with sz/sza to struggle to read. I was the same. But some things that help me is listening to some epic, repetitive, familiar classical music with earbuds as i read. Helps cut out distractions and puts me in the zone more.
Also realising that most books these days suck and are boring as hell. I can only read a book if im already super interested in it before i start. So i do research on books online before i get one. If i just pick up any book chances are I’ll be bored to death and cant focus.
I also read at a very slow pace. Probably because of my adhd or something.

When I read even if I read slow it feels like skimming with interruptions with the schz. I just take more time

I was having a lot of trouble focusing on what I was reading also, so I switched to children’s novels and that helped me a lot. I am currently reading the Harry Potter series.

Mine is ‘same, same… but different’

I want to watch a movie from start to end but can’t do more than 5 minutes at a time.

I can read more though - which I am thankful for. I am most thankful for my continued ability to enjoy music. That is most important of all to me

Same going with me, maybe just open a book and see.

Never was a book reader unless when I was in university and had to study books for exams. I haven’t read a book for a very long time, maybe years. I do read news articles though.

I don’t think having the adhd helps (I have the inattentive type). i lied on this post, I have read many books since I discovered manga, but other than that I can’t pick up a novel. I bought a e-reader hoping things would change but it doesn’t make an ounce of difference. Like you I research books before I try to read them but I still end up getting bored less than half way through.

I am trying to read Norwegian Woods currently by Murakami, so far so good. but I hope I can retain the focus enough so I can actually understand what I am reading.
