I thought protein powder would cost $20 or $30. I just bought two pounds for $50. ChatGPT says it’s a really good thing to take though for various reasons. I won’t have some very day, I’ll make it last. Anyone use protein powder and get good results?
I used to take it for like maybe 6 weeks when i was lifting weights just didnt see results i felt it made me stronger tho.. would u ever consider creatine?
When I first started lifting weights in High School, I bought a lot of protein powder. Its good for building muscle if you work out, but its not needed. Its easy to get enough protein through the foods you eat. Protein powder can be pretty expensive too. I havent taken any in years.
It’s not easy for me to get protein with just the foods I eat now. For my weight I should have 120-160 grams a day. A quick bowl of Cheerios before work has very little protein. Lunch is a sandwich. I usually eat chicken for dinner and that has like 70 grams but I need 50 more somewhere. I guess I could eat yogurt and drink milk and eat eggs.
Well, it’s a whole lot cheaper, that’s for sure. I don’t want big muscles, I just want to fight muscle loss from taking mounjaro. The problem is I’m not getting enough protein in my diet.
Be careful to check it out before you use it. Might be a good deal for a bad reason. Good products generally cost more.
Yeah, I paid a lot for it, it seems to cost as much as its competitors. Thanks.
Treat it like a supplement, as an addition to your diet. So many use it as a standalone, and it baffles me. I used to use it in powerlifting days when I was eating 3500cals per day. But in boxing days, stopped using it as diet was sufficient for recovery and keeping weight down.
I doubt you need 120 to 160g protein per day
Older adults do need more
But you need like 60 to 80g.
Not a dr, just saying
@shutterbug is this safe in your opinion?
Oh yeah. I use it.
I’m getting some
I have a gluten/dairy free protein shake every morning now with berries, cherries etc. with unsweetened coconut milk. It helps me feel full and I get a lot of nutrients that way
Creatine is really good for mental health.
average person need at least 80g of protein daily to be healthy, that doesnt include people whp are active,so its a good buy IMO
That’s good. I sometimes take vegan protein powder.
I’ve been taking protein for about a year now with maybe a couple months off this winter when I stopped working out. Started back up this month. My doc said to aim for about 100g of protein a day. Creatine is good to add on. 5 grams a day is the dose but I saw a study that had people adding more to help with sleep and cognition.
How much are you paying for protein powder (if that’s what you’re taking)?
I usually wait until I can find some on sale at amazon. Sometimes the subscribe and save option has extra discounts. You can just cancel the 2nd delivery after you get the 1st one. The last couple jugs I got were about $7 or $8 per pound. I scored a couple on clearance at walmart last year for $5 a pound too.
Huel is a decent option too. It has 30 to 40g of protein per serving depending on which version you get and has added vitamins and nutrients. Its more expensive than pure protein powder though.
Edit: Google the site slickdeals and set up an account there. You can save searches there and get email updates when someone posts one. That’s how I find most of my deals on protein. Just be careful you don’t end up spending money on other crap you find on that site you don’t need lol.
I paid $50 for 2.25 lbs on Amazon. Now I see it’s cheaper at Walmart.
