I actually tried applying multiple times to the local library in the last couple years but never got an interview. My sister, who was a teacher for 35 years applied for a library assistant position and didn’t get called either. I think working any position in the library is a highly coveted job and therefore difficult to get. But, it’s definitely worth trying.

don’t give up, I saw a job advert with 12 posts available, I was hoping I might get lucky if I applied but idk, My other job I looked at was cctv but idk if I could look at a bunch of screens for hours.

Maybe you could get experience working in a charity shop, they have a books section sometimes and its basically abut like a library for used things, not the same but idk, kinda lol.

I took the test to be a librarian assistant but I didn’t score high and they never offered me a job. 15 years ago my stepdad and my mom thought it would be a good job for me to work in a library so they encouraged me to take library science courses in college. That’s the main reason I went back to college but I ended up majoring in humanities and forgot all about taking library science classes. I wouldn’t want to work in a library; too many kids and it can get crowded and you have to deal with people.

the library is less busy these days with all the kindles and things, less people reading books I think tbh, when I go in its always very quiet and not busy.

I have a number of them near me & I have volunteered in 2 of them, I reckon I’d have had a job by now if I could handle the stress, my anxiety got the better of me.
I was thinking about volunteering again in the shop, its a real alladins den… I enjoyed helping out in there.

The library in my town always has homeless people congregating there to get off the streets. There’s always a bunch of them there sleeping against the walls, especially in winter. Sometimes they’re drunk and make a ruckus.

Here there are different size libraries and the small village ones are really quiet and okay. The big ones have cafes in them serving lunches as well. All the check ins and outs of books are self service on a scanning machine

My mom was the library assistant at a small town when we were caring for my grandmother who had dementia. They had a fun program for townskids over the summer, and I attended. There was a contest for a bookmark design, and I actually won and got my bookmark published. I have a lot of happy memories in libraries.

My downtown library has thugs congregating outside, looks like they’re gonna rob someone. I don’t go to libraries anymore they’re full of homeless people and people using the Internet to look for jobs. Some college kids in their, few kids with their parents. I get too many voices when I go there. I prefer buying my own books.

@2Waynez There’s nothing quite like a nice new book that no one else has written in or damaged. I love having books.
