May see a drop off in new members as schizophrenia.com appears to be gone

We still of course have pretty good google search results for this forum.

And we also have the website https://schizophreniapeersupport.org/ which directs to this forum

But I would suspect that some members attempting to return may not be able to easily find their way here and any new members finding schizophrenia.com through internet searches will not be able to be redirected here.

It’s possible we may be able to purchase that domain name at some point and link it to this forum…depending if domain name is abandoned or up for sale. IDK. BUt its maybe something to look into. Unknown cost at the current time. If anyone knows more about this process, feel free to chime in. It might be worthwhile to look into the acquisition for new member internet searches.

Let me know what you all think.

sounds like a good idea. if possible to retain the schizophrenia.com domain would be ideal right… not only for new members but just for being able to aid schizophrenics in general. May be worth talking to the admins etc of the old site to see if its possible to obtain the url before it goes on the market.

Yeah…it might not be a bad idea. I still have his contact info somewhere. It may be a bit of a pipe dream. I saw schizophrenia.net was at 9k when I was looking to see if it was available.

I think the process is either to contact directly or hire a broker for taken domains. It may be more than we are willing and able to invest to get schizophrenia.com

The only way for me to find this forum is to specifically search “schizophrenia support forum”. Lots of people won’t put forum in their search. Is there a way to be in the results for “schizophrenia support”?

I just memorized “schizophreniasupport.discourse.group” much easier than looking for it.

If I just hit “s” on my keyboard, it pops up right away in my search history. No clue how to help people find it, though. Sorry.

I dont think you need both. “Schizophrenia forum” should bring it up in google.

Also, the website that links here will come up on “schizophrenia peer support” well on google.

There are lots of results in “schizophrenia support”. I think trying to get near the top of the list would be difficult.

“schizophrenia discourse” also comes up extremely well.

So, I guess I would say we have several “niche” phrases that will keep SOME coming.

Any combination of “schizophrenia” and “discourse” or “peer support” or “Forum” lands us near top of search results or at top either by forum or website.

this is the second result for me on google under “Schizophrenia forum,” right under the old forum’s dead link.

Maybe we’ll all just get old together, a pool of 60-80 year olds laughing about old times :face_with_hand_over_mouth::laughing::laughing:
