We will be using the basic principals of the old rules until such time as we find time to make our own, but are there suggestions where we should make changes?
We do not need to be a carbon copy of the old site, but we do need to make sure its a safe place.
For example I dont think we need to ding cursing unless it becomes excessive.
I think religion should be fine to mention as long as its not debated.
I think the same is true with politics. Fine to mention things….not so great to debate, as its divisive.
What else?
I think we can go back to being a little more democratic on the rules…which was the original intent of schizophenia.com .
But once they are set we need to make sure everyone follows them.
I think the key to making any new rules should be to make sure it keeps things healthy and safe for all members.
But I want to stress that this post is not changing any rules yet. Nothing i have said should be taken as going into a effect right this minute. For now we will follow the basic guidelines of the old forum. Im just summarizing my thoughts.
We wont make any changes to the old rules until we get your input and its discussed with staff to ensure we take a cautious approach and keep things safe for everyone.
Yes, I thought I noticed a change in the flexibility of the interpretation of the rules , as well. When I was a mod, everything was interpreted really hard core rigidly. But they seemed to be a bit more flexible recently.
Thanks @Joker . We can try to do this in most cases. As you mentioned, there are certain cases where its almost unavoidable to keep things from spiraling into chaos. I can remember a couple instances on the old forum where there were members who would not listen at all and just kept spamming the forum with hostility and had to be shut down, but for the most part, this is probably something we can do.
We have not suspended anyone here , yet. Its been very tame so far.
RIght. Yeah, I think we can avoid situations like that with just having a discussion privately. Thats not the kind of situation I was referring to. The biggest offender for just going crazy with the hostile posts that im thinking of isnt here and hasnt been on the forum for a couple years. I wish I could say the name but its probably not appropriate …..I’ll just say the name starts with a D and leave it at that. They made things so difficult even when I was super nice about it.
Maybe a separate section to allow users an ability to discuss the rules? I just feel it’s important to have free debate about the rules and our experience of them as time passes
The one thing I haven’t seen you mention in your rules is whether or not this is going to be a pro-medicine site first and foremost like the last one. I think that helped a lot personally, but it’s up to you guys what you want for the new one I guess. I just got in so many debates in the sz subreddit with people over why they should take their medicine. That sub is just full of anti medicine folks. The sz forum was always refreshingly pro treatment by comparison.
@SzSupportAdmin said that he would rather have private discussions. Please pm us your concerns. I’m okay with you creating a poll but I will lock it to prevent arguments.
