Yesterday I couldn’t keep my heart rate under control(all due to my POTS flaring up). I used to be on beta blockers and stopped them when my fitness improved and I no longer needed them.
I also had bad side affects while exercising previously when I was on beta blockers.
So I took a 50mg dose(half of what I used to be on) within an hour my BP dropped pretty low (88/56) so I had to counteract it with Mododrine(a medication that increases your BP).
I slept well last night but this morning I decided I was going to go out and do my long run for the week. BIG MISTAKE. Not even a half mile in I started blacking out.y heart rate wouldn’t go over 120 and with the exertion, I was putting out compared to the heart rate. It wasn’t matching up. According to my cardiologist, if I am doing hard exercise, my heart rate needs to rise. Accordingly, if I try to suppress it with a bit of blockers, my heart rate does not go fast enough, and therefore my brain does not get enough oxygen.
So yeah I made the mistake of taking beta blockers again. Hoping I’m back to normal tomorrow. Blacking out due to lack of oxygen to the brain is sooo miserable.
Did you notify your cardioligist? I wouldn’t chance more exercise like that before getting the go ahead. Your theory is prob ok, but maybe go for expert opinion?
No I didn’t. It’s directly related to me taking beta blockers again after being off them For the last year and a half. I just had some left over from my last script
