Waiting for that dog. Bit sad

I’d posted awhile back about possibly getting myself a dog, but I’ve decided to postpone that. When I gave it some thought, I realized it would be smarter to invest money on training my husband’s two dogs. One in mouthy and bouncy, and the other is reactive to anything out of place, like when our neighbor had a UHaul out- it caused her to go into growling and barking mode big time. We think the reactive dog has eye issues, and I wouldn’t mind getting that checked out.

I also need a second knee surgery, and I won’t be able to go on long walks during recovery. Yes, the dog would be a middle-aged adult, but she would still have needed long walks and special training to keep her occupied since we don’t have a fenced area for her to run off excess energy.

So I contacted her owner and let her know that I won’t be able to get her but would be interested in the future at some point. I’m admittedly sad. I wanted a buddy of my own who can spend all day with me and be with me when I leave the house and such. I could use that, but it just isn’t what’s best right now.

It sounds like you are making a wise choice for now. You are right - you can always get a dog in the future.

I agree with @Vinegar

It’s a wise choice.

I hope eventually you manage to get a dog because it seems you’re sensible and wise and I think you would be a great dog owner.
