This thread is confusing, I can’t be sure when people are talking about sedating you during an endoscopy or whether they’re talking about a colonoscopy. Does anyone have a definitive answer to whether they put you under for a colonoscopy in the U.K. or not? @Fisherman1992 they use very sterile equipment to do a colonoscopy, you most likely won’t get an infection or STD. It’s a routine procedure usually done by competent doctors and nurses.

@77nick77 as far as I’m aware here in the UK they don’t use general anaesthetic for neither endoscopy or colonoscopy
They do give sedation and gas though.

I’ve always opted for sedation. I have a mix of mental,neurodevelopmental, and physical issues which can make it seem,if taken at face value, that my health is a lot worse than it actually is.
