Akathisia is kicking my butt

For some reason tonight’s meds have me climbing the walls. So much cross/uncrossing of legs - total tell tail sign for me.

Anyone randomly just get akathisia despite no changes in meds?

Clozapine don’t bind to D2 (dopamine receptor),so there’s no akathisia..

I had it for years but it went away after stopping Abilify. Now I’m on Abilify but don’t have it. Weird.

I take olanzapine before bedtime and when I get akathisia I know I’m in for a rough night. It takes hours before it goes away. I always hope that I fall asleep before it kicks in. Luckily it doesn’t happen all the time.

I relate to this nasty side-effect, it can really be disturbing to be unable to stay still, not having control of urge to move. At least it goes away in time, with luck that is. Hopefully future drugs deliver better experiences on this front and with less of these annoying and bothersome unintended consequences of such rough and non-specific mechanisms of action.

I took an extra procyclidine. I get prescribed them for akathisia

I had awful Akathesia on Abilify years ago

Lasted months until my body got used to it

I’m on aripiprazole and it causes akathasia, but peregabalin suppresses it.

Feel your pain matey. I’ve been good for a couple of years but always dealt with it on all the antipsychotics I’ve been on. Risperdal was horrible but I’d still get lo level on zyprexa which was just as annoying and problematic.

I’d suspect some diet changes but it’s not been an issue last couple of years.

I saw someone shuffling around at the pdoc last time I went. Felt bad for them they probably have it.

Procyclidine is very good med..

Here it’s called Procipar,but it can’t be found in pharmacy …

We had that during my first hospital admittion

It’s difficult for me to not Pace and it has been for a long time, maybe since the beginning of my illness.

My voices have some vested interest in me walking because they claim that it’s a form of me submitting to their dominance.

So perhaps they are subliminally or subtly affecting me so that I have to move.

I had it bad for a month when I started zyprexa, but it dissapeared.

You see. Akethesia I had on my first antipsychotics Pherphenazine depot 216 mg every other week 33 years ago. Later I Got that from 16 mg risperidone Daily.

Thats the only two.

I had terrible akathisia on quetiapine, now I’m taking amisulpride and haloperidol and it’s not so bad anymore. I do get the urge to stretch my legs out in bed at night though, they feel restless then.
