Really agitated following antihistamine

I started cetirizine (zirtic?) 2 days ago. I was getting really itchy eyes so I thought I would try an antihistamine

This med has me crawling out my skin with fear and agitation.

It kinda feels similar to bouts of akathisia I have had - but without the movement stuff.

is utterly awful. Took a prn propranolol. Gonna have to wait it out till it is out of my system.

Thanks lily. Yeah is a pretty weird reaction for sure. I am sensitive to meds at the best of times but this is pretty far out.

I will be fine and won’t do anything foolish but is unpleasant for sure!

Schizophrenics who have hallucinations usually have low histamine. You probably made it even lower.

I was started on hydroxyzine an antihistamine that also depresses the CNS for panic attacks. It seems to be working. Feeling pretty good today.

I think they used this as a replacement for benzos for anxiety last time I was in hospital

I used a high dose for sleep before but it did not touch my anxiety

Yeah I can take 400 mg and makes no difference at all.

I know benzos are nasty but they do help if you do t take them all the time

Still get panic attacks in my sleep

They should prescribe them for severe anxiety or panic attacks. Hydroxyzine for those is laughable. But people misusing them ruined it for everyone. If I get a panic attack I have to go to the ER and wait like 2 hours until they finally decide to give me an injection of valium or something and send me home. If they would prescribe them for panic attacks I wouldn’t have to do that.
